When I joined freemasonry, I had often hoped that there was a textbook around that would help me to go deeper into the symbolism of the degree and understanding the customs of the craft. I am happy to say that there certainly is one, written by a well-informed brother and I recommend it to all of you.
“In Search of Light” by Robert G. Davis is, in my opinion, one of the greatest manuals to be produced for the modern mason. He goes through the history of the craft and then each degree. Once a brother is raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason it could be a compulsory read as a piece of education. While we do have a number of great downloads about Connecticut traditions in our Grand View site, this work is well constructed.
Avoid the temptation to buy it on Amazon, you will save $20 and have the book signed if you purchase it directly from the Author’s site. I have linked it above and I enthusiastically think that is a superb resource.
